Description of the Moduflow self-priming liquid ring pumps

A range of medium pressure low volume liquid ring pumps made from die-pressed stainless steel aisi 304 or aisi 316 with capacities up to 13.8m3 per hour and heads up to 60m sold either as wet end alone; pump and motor; or pump and motor with trolley mount.

The Moduflow pumps feature :

Applications

Moduflow pumps are for use with clean liquids including acids and solvents compatible with the type of stainless steel and seal used, in industrial systems wherever liquids tend to get dirty, abrasive, slightly aggressive, and in particular in industries such by way of example as the textiles, dyeing, washing, printing, galvanics industries and with inflammable liquids subject to the use of ADPE explosion proof motors.

Because of the built-in variable pressure and capacity features offered by the by-pass, Moduflow pumps are particularly suited for use with wine presses and filters in general. They can be used for alimentary liquids where strictly sanitary hygienic pumps are not required. Other areas for application include the light pharmaceuticals, depuration, and petrochemicals industries.


Do NOT use Moduflow pumps for:

Liquids which are incompatible with the materials used, amongst which in particular and BY WAY OF EXAMPLE, chloric acid, hydrochloric acid in any concentration, silver chloride, hydrofluoric acid, muriatic acid, sulphuric acid, hydrobromic acid, molten antimony and aluminium, ammonia, sulphur chloride.


Use and operation of the by-pass or pressure controller.

For references to parts numbers please refer to the DRAWING ot the Moduflow pumps.
The by-pass mechanism built into the pump allows the maximum pressure of the pump to be varied, and therefore capacity at the various heads to be reduced or increased. A valve (08) activated by a spring (07) the force of which is controlled by turning the knob (04) and the piston (05) closes a passage which communicates with the compression chamber. So long as there is no pressure, as for instance during liquid transfer, the by-pass cannot work. In the presence of a pressure in the pipes caused for instance by a tap or a filter, or head, the pressure inside the pump will tend to open the by-pass control, allowing recirculation of part of the liquid into the suction chamber of the pump. At that point it is possible to regulate both capacity and pressure. During liquid transfer the device is particularly useful as when it is adjusted to its minimum, the pump outlet can be closed without stopping the pump. Numerous recipients can thus be filled by simply turning a tap or ball valve on or off.

Motor specifications

Motors are NOT standard because of the special flange required to make the close coupling with the pump.
They are enclosed externally ventilated type with protection IP55 for continuous duty.
Explosion-proof three phase motors are available for all pump sizes. Special voltages and/or tropicalisation of motors are available on request, subject to the payment of an extra price.
